Just days after parting ways with JPM Kawasaki, Ryan Alexanderson has landed a new ride, signing with Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki for the upcoming Appin round of the 2026 ProMX Championship.
The move comes after PM Kawasaki and Alexanderson mutually agreed to end their partnership following Round 4 at Toowoomba, where the Victorian completed his final appearance for the Kawasaki-supported MX2 program.
Now, Alexanderson will make the switch to the premier MX1 category, stepping into the Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki squad as an injury replacement for Dean Ferris, who continues to recover on the sidelines after being injured in the first moto at Toowoomba.
Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki confirmed Alexanderson will line up alongside Brad West, who is expected to return to racing after missing the Toowoomba round while recovering from surgery.
The signing marks a quick turnaround for Alexanderson, whose future had been uncertain after Tuesday’s announcement that he and JPM Kawasaki had gone their separate ways midway through the ProMX season.
At the time, JPM Kawasaki thanked Alexanderson for his contribution to the program.
“We would like to thank Ryan for his efforts, commitment and contribution during his time with the team,” the statement read. “On behalf of everyone at JPM Kawasaki, we wish Ryan all the very best in his future endeavours and success moving forward. Thank you Ryan, and all the best.”
Alexanderson’s final outing with JPM Kawasaki came at Toowoomba, where he finished eighth overall in MX2. He currently sits seventh in the championship standings, with his strongest result of the season coming at Round 2 in Canberra, where he claimed fourth overall.
While initially brought into the Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki squad as a fill-in for Ferris at Appin, the move gives Alexanderson an immediate opportunity to remain active in the ProMX paddock and gain valuable time aboard a 450 as the season continues.
Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki also reiterated its support for Ferris during his recovery, with the team hopeful of seeing the former champion back behind the gate soon.
