RJ Hampshire has been drafted into Team USA for the 2025 Motocross of Nations at Ironman Raceway, stepping in for the injured Chase Sexton and aiming to deliver a strong home-soil performance in the Open class.

Team USA has confirmed RJ Hampshire as a late addition to its lineup for the 2025 FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN), set to take place at Ironman Raceway from October 3-5.

Hampshire has been in strong form since stepping up to the Husqvarna 450 class ahead of this year’s Pro Motocross Championship, where he secured fifth in the final 450MX standings. He carried that momentum into the SuperMotocross World Championship Playoffs and Final, finishing seventh overall after another convincing post-season campaign.

Just over a week out from the Nations returning to American soil, Hampshire has been drafted in as a replacement following Chase Sexton’s withdrawal through injury. The 29-year-old is set to compete in the Open category and will be making his second MXoN appearance after racing for Team USA at Ernée, France, in 2023.

“I am really excited for the chance to represent our great country on home soil,” Hampshire said. “I may not have been the first pick, but I’ll always answer the call, and you know I’ll give it everything I’ve got. Ironman is one of my favourite tracks, and we’ve still got a strong team ready to go – see you all next weekend!”

“We’re deeply grateful to R.J. for stepping in at such short notice to represent his country,” AMA Director of Racing and U.S. MXoN Team Manager Mike Pelletier said. “R.J.’s commitment and professionalism are outstanding, and I know he is honoured and excited to represent the United States on home soil.”

Additionally, in support of Team USA, Justin Cooper is continuing to train to be prepared to ride the 250 class if Haiden Deegan, who is still in a race to be fit, is a last minute withdrawal.

“I would like to offer our sincere appreciation to the versatile Justin Cooper for his unwavering dedication and professionalism,” Pelletier added. “Justin is continuing to train at the highest level in an effort to be ready at a moment’s notice and support his fellow countrymen. This speaks volumes about his character, work ethic, and commitment to the team. His effort behind the scenes does not go unnoticed and is a true unsung hero of the sport and Team USA.”
