Riders Team Up for Six-Hour Enduro

Posted:

Some of the quickest off road and motocross riders throughout south eastern Australia will team up this weekend to contest one of the most unique events on the Australian enduro calendar - Farmers Pony Express. Riders will pair up and take turns, known as pony express, around multiple laps of a tough 42 kilometre circuit over six gruelling hours. Rather than bike capacity divisions, riders will be classified by their combined ages, and a father and son class. This means, for example, two 24-year-old riders would compete in the Up To 55 class as their combined ages are 48, while a 30-year-old and a 35-year-old would be in the 56 to 85 class. This year's event will be fought out over two days. Saturday will be dedicated to senior racing, Sunday will see quads and juniors take centre stage. The event was held for the first time last year and attracted a massive number of entries, both locally and from interstate. This year's event is expected to be even bigger. Senior sign on is 7.30am Saturday. Racing gets underway at 10am sharp. Senior riders can enter one of four different divisions:
- Up to 55 years.
- 56 - 85 years.
- 86 years and over.
- Father and son.

Sunday's racing program kicks off with quad racing from 9am. The quad racing will be held over the full senior circuit over two hours. Junior sign on is from 8.30am for a midday start. The junior event will be raced around a dedicated junior circuit over three hours. Junior classes: - 50cc Division 1 (non pony express) - 50cc Division 2 (non pony express) - Up to 20 years - 21 - 25 years - 26 years and over. Directions: Calder Highway, between Mildura and Ouyen in north west Victoria - 300m after Boonoonar Road (if travelling from Melbourne). The entrance is off the highway and will be sign posted.
