Riders Conquer Classic Safari Course On Leg Two With Faggotter Maintaining Lead

Posted:

Australasian Safari competitors described Leg Two from Murchison Settlement to Gascoyne Junction as tough but spectacular as they experienced a variety of terrain such as fast flowing mill runs, red dunes, narrow tracks, rocky river crossings and claypans.

It was a day of mixed fortunes for the leading Yamaha team with race leader Rodney Faggotter continuing his stellar run, increasing his day one lead, while team-mate Anthony Diener was forced to exit the race at the conclusion of the stage after suffering a hand injury on day one.

‰ÛÏI Had a really good day, it all went to plan for me." Faggotter explained. "I copped a bit of wire and broke a speedo cable, which would‰Ûªve put me back a couple of minutes, but I still won both stages so I‰Ûªm really pleased."

‰ÛÏIt is a shame for Shane, would of loved a Yamaha one, two ‰ÛÒ that‰Ûªs what we‰Ûªve been working towards all year," he added.

With Shane‰Ûªs injury, American rider Quinn Cody now moved up to second place.

‰ÛÏQuinn‰Ûªs not shabby, and he is really good at navigation. Once he settles into the Australian terrain, he‰Ûªll be really quick, but hopefully there‰Ûªs not enough time for him to do that,‰Û
