Ricky Carmichael Motocross of Nations Award announced

Posted:

Motocross and Supercross star Ricky Carmichael is racing his last Motocross of Nations this weekend, after he partially retired at the end of last year after a brilliant career. 27 year old Carmichael reached the impressive tally of 150 victories this year, and has won 10 AMA Motocross titles, five AMA Supercross titles and one World Supercross title. For this reason Youthstream, represented by President Giuseppe Luongo, decided to give the Team USA leader a special Career Award and also make a new award in his name. Moreover, the reason why Carmichael will be remembered in the future will not be only his successful career, but also the Ricky Carmichael Motocross of Nations Award. This special prize, which will be assigned for the first time at the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations, will be given to the youngest and best placed rider in the final of every Motocross of Nations. Ricky Carmichael said: ‰ÛÏThat is very nice to receive an award like this one, I have always wanted to race this event, actually the first year I tried to take part in it in 1997 I did not qualify, but I worked harder the following year and I made my dream come true! I am very proud to accept this award for my career, and I think it is a honour to race here at the Motocross of Nations. This is the best race of the year, and I think it should be the dream of any upcoming rider. I am also very grateful to have the Ricky Carmichael Motocross of Nations Award named after me, as when I was 17 this race was all I could think of.‰Û
