Reed seeking elusive Indianapolis win

Posted:

A winless record at the outgoing Indianapolis RCA Dome and a niggling hand injury won't stop Aussie Chad Reed from seeking to extend his points lead in this weekend's round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship. Reed took a convincing holeshot at the Atlanta round and looked set to steamroll the field once again before crashing heavily on the fifth lap. He was back on his Yamaha YZ450F early this week, eager to prove his fitness and keep focused on maintaining a points buffer. The 25-year-old experienced some soreness, but showed typical grit and determination and pushed on, finding a comfortable style in preparation for battle on the track that he designed for the Indianapolis round. Reed's design is fast and flowing, incorporating a number of rhythm sections, which he is sure will suit his style. "The concept of having riders design their own track layouts is interesting and is a good way of keeping the racing close," said Reed. "At this point I'm concentrating on staying at the front of the field and keeping a good points buffer between myself and second place." "The YZ450F has been rock-solid all season long and has been easy to ride, even nursing an injury." "Every position is vital here, and I would love to take a win at Indianapolis as I haven't managed to do this yet." With 184 points to his name, Reed is equal to a round ahead of second-placed Kevin Windham, who is back a further 25 on 159 points.
