Rain, rain, mud and more mud were the order of the day for round three of the Make Smoking History WAMX Senior State Championships held at the Lightweight Motorcycle Club‰Ûªs Hendley Park track on Perth‰Ûªs southern outskirts.
Practice and qualifying were held under extremely tough conditions for all classes with the 30cm mud surface developing into what can only be described as slosh when further rain fell, sucking in bikes and riders like quick sand!
After five motos were completed, the meeting was deemed unsafe by the Steward of the Meeting and was called off.
LWMCC President Donna Jarrett is hopeful of a rerun of the event.
‰ÛÏThe WA calendar is pretty full at the best of times, but if we can find a date which is beneficial to the club and WAMX and is approved by MWA, then we will look at it absolutely." Jarrett said. "It is just hugely disappointing to the riders who have come from all over the state, and to the club who have worked so hard to put this together.
"It is a financial strain to the club too, as we have catered for the event etc. We were looking at today being a wonderful fundraiser for Breast Cancer too. I can tell you that the club will be donating gate takings to the National Breast Cancer Foundation fundraiser event‰Û
