The iconic Daytona Supercross marked another clear step forward for the Quad Lock Honda Team, with two riders finishing inside the top 10 for the second consecutive round as the squad continues to build momentum in the 2026 season.
The strong showing reflects a collective effort across the entire program, led by Team Principal Martin Davalos, who was quick to credit the people working behind the scenes.
“Everyone on this team is going above and beyond, our technicians, suspension and engine staff, our sponsors and contractors. There’s a real commitment to improving every single week,” Davalos said.
Qualifying set the tone for the night, with Joey Savatgy delivering his best result of the season to date by securing third overall, underlining his steady progression. Shane McElrath qualified 12th, while Christian Craig posted the 15th fastest time.
All three riders advanced directly to the main event through their heat races. McElrath finished fifth in his heat, Savatgy impressed with a second-place result, and Craig crossed the line in sixth to comfortably book his spot under the lights.
When the gate dropped for the main event, Savatgy faced an early challenge off the start but charged through the field with determination, eventually securing a strong fifth-place finish. While satisfied with another top-five result, he admitted there was even more on the table.
“I’m never going to be upset with fifth, but I know we had the potential for fourth or better with a stronger start. I’m really happy with where we’re at with the bike and the team, everyone’s working together and it’s showing,” Savatgy said.

McElrath continued his upward trajectory, delivering his best result of the season with eighth place. After weeks of focused testing and development, the progress was evident on track as he found the comfort and connection he had been chasing.
“Eighth is a big step forward for me. We found something this past week, and now it’s about building on that momentum,” McElrath explained.
Craig, meanwhile, showed genuine speed throughout the night, posting lap times comparable to riders well inside the top 10. Unfortunately, two crashes in the main event proved costly, relegating him to 13th by the chequered flag.
“This one hurts. Crashing isn’t something I normally do, and the mistakes were costly. The speed was there for a much better result. I need to be better, and I will be,” Craig said.
With two riders inside the top 10 once again and clear signs of continued improvement across the board, Quad Lock Honda now shifts its focus to Round 9 in Indianapolis this weekend, determined to convert its growing momentum into even stronger results.
