The track layout for the 2019 KTM Australia Australian Junior Motocross Championships (AJMX) has been given a big thumbs up by local racers.

The Motocross Riders Association, in South Australia, the host club of Australia's premier junior motocross championship for 2019 have been hard at work to ensure that the event that will run from the 28th of September to the 5th of October will have a track that will test the nation‰Ûªs best junior athletes.

With this in mind, the track crew at the Gilman complex that is situated less than 20km from Adelaide's CDB recently went to work rejuvenating the circuit ahead of MRA's opening club championship round of the year which was held in late May.

Lead by local track builder Wayne McMillan, a small group of dedicated volunteers put in a week-long work, building up the track surface, making directional changes and introducing some new obstacles that had local racers excited at the unique challenges that fronted them.

Over 100 riders took to the track, and despite some wet and windy conditions, the consensus was the new track layout was an improvement on a track that was already a favourite amongst South Australian riders.

"The feedback we have received since the opening club day and the following practice days has been extremely positive with everyone who has ridden the track praising the efforts of the team who both designed and built the new track," Club President Anthony Slade commented.

"I was fortunate enough to race the club day myself and spend another afternoon riding the new layout, and it really is an exciting track that will test the nation‰Ûªs best junior riders."

"The current committee have banded together and are 100% behind making sure that the 2019 AJMX is a huge success. There are plenty of things going on behind the scenes, and the new track layout is the first significant visual improvement of many that visitors to the venue will see over the coming months.

"This week has also seen us start the build on the wash bays, which will not only benefit the riders at this years AJMX but also our club members for years to come," Slade concluded.

With the clubs opening club championship of 2019 in the books, the focus will turn to a big two-day event on Saturday the 31st of August and Sunday the 1st of September which will act as a dress rehearsal for the AJMX.

"While the track is well and truly booked for riding schools and private training, along with the club's regular ride days, we are giving riders from all over the country a chance to race the track ahead of the AJMX with a big two-day event in August." MRA Club Secretary John Barton explained.

"The interest from riders wanting to ride the track ahead of this year's national championship has been even more substantial than we anticipated and this event will allow riders to plan and head over to South Australia for a bit of a pre-run of what to expect at the nationals.

"Entries for the two-day event are open on Ridernet with all classes capped to 40 riders, so it will be important for riders to get their entries in quickly."

While the event is a great opportunity for junior riders to get some race track time on the MRA layout, there is also a full range of senior, Vet and Women's classes, making it a great excuse for a family racing holiday!.
