Dylan Long put in two solid performances at the opening rounds of the 2013 Terex Australian Supercross Championship held in Darwin on the 14th of 15th of September including a podium finish on the Saturday.

Long admitted that the first day of practice was a shock to the system with the Victorian coming from cool temperatures at home to a 30 plus degree day with high humidity.

"I was glad we were able to come over on the Friday and get a ride in during the head of the day, it certainly gave us the chance to get ready for racing for the following two days" Dylan stated.

Though his heat race did not go to plan on Saturday for round one of the championship, long found his stride when it counted racing to a very impressive third place finish during the afternoon's main event claiming the final step of the podium.

Much like Saturday's heat race, Long did not have the race he was after in Sunday's heat race.

When the gates dropped for the main event, Long got a great jump but coming into the first corner got squeezed off and pushed back. he was able to make few passes working his way to 5th place and settled into a battle with with Brendan Harrison until he Harrison's pace slowed.

Long then got involved in a battle with another KTM two stroke, this time the rider being Kale Makeham, with the duo battling for a number of laps before a small mistake by Long just before the triple allowed Makeham to pass.

After all the battling and the heat Long decided it would be good to just finish the race and be able to move onto the next round with a good finish.

"It was start to the season," Long stated after the opening two rounds. "By the end of the main even on Sunday I was just focused on finishing the race, especially with it being really humid.

"It was actually good just to finish the second round," Long concluded with a laugh.

Catch Long in action at round three of the 2013 Terex Australian Supercross Championship on the 12th of October in Mt Gambier, South Australia, where he will head into the event currently ranked fourth in the Pro Lites Championship standings.
