Nightmare Wonthaggi MX Nationals round for Zero Seven Motorsports

Posted:

The TLD ‰ÛÒ Maxima Zero Seven Motorsports motocross team endured an all time low weekend in Wonthaggi on Sunday with both team riders Kade Mosig and Cody Mackie injured in their Moto 1 hit outs.

Mosig entered the weekend determined to make amends for a challenging Round 2 in Murray Bridge and once again started the day by qualifying well in 4th place.

Almost instantly after the gate dropped, Mosig‰Ûªs day went south when fellow competitor Josh Cachia crashed in front of him. With nowhere to go he fell and was hit hard from behind by a multitude of bikes and instantly knocked unconscious.

Scans would later reveal a small fracture in Mosig‰Ûªs L2 vertebrae, unfortunately ruling him out for the foreseeable future. Despite this heart breaking set back, he remains positive for the remainder of the series.

‰ÛÏI‰Ûªm obviously devastated by this, especially when I didn‰Ûªt fall due to any mistake of my own initially." Mosig commented. "Still, this is the reality of motocross so I‰Ûªll go home and focus on getting better and back stronger than ever.‰Û

In an uncanny stroke of bad luck for the freshly revamped team, MX1 class top ten contender Cody Mackie also crashed heavily towards the end of his 30 minute first moto hit out, injuring his right ankle and ruling him out of the day‰Ûªs competition.

He will undergo further tests in the upcoming days to better evaluate the extent of the damage.

‰ÛÏThat was one of the biggest I‰Ûªve ever had." Mackie stated. "I was in 4th gear almost flat out and I just hit a section of mud which pitched the bike sideways.

"To be honest I‰Ûªm just glad I wasn‰Ûªt more badly hurt," added the 26 year old.

With so much anticipation leading into the 2013 MX Nationals championship the weekend‰Ûªs result was a devastating blow, but Zero Seven Motorsports team owner Mark Haughton was defiant that they will bounce back.

‰ÛÏIn my time I‰Ûªve never had such a difficult day in the office so to speak." Haughton explained.

"Our guys are tough, so I know they wont be down for long we‰Ûªll just have to wait and see what becomes of the next couple of days and make a plan from there," he concluded.
