Kirk Gibbs aboard his Serco Metal Mulisha Yamaha has given the new Pirelli Scorpion MX Mid Soft 110/85-19 tyre the best possible introduction to racing by taking the tyre to a debut win in the MX2 class at the opening round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals last weekend at Conondale, QLD.
The new 110/85-19 MX Mid Soft has been developed specifically for MX2 250cc 4 Stroke machines, to create a larger footprint than the traditional 100/90-19 for optimized grip.
The tyre is also lighter than the standard size rear rubber to help with improved feel and handling. The new size also helps to reduce the rotating mass of the rear wheel for better stability and handling in the air.
Gibbs was not the only rider to come to grips with the new tyre as team mate Luke Styke and Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing rider Ford Dale also used this new size, giving the new Pirelli a clean sweep of the MX2 podium.
With six of the top ten including the top five riders in the MX2 class and the Winning MX1 Honda of Ben Townley all running Pirelli's, the company is looking forward to further success when the Monster Energy MX Nationals rolls into Coonabarabran on the 14th of April.
