New European 300cc 2 stroke Championship to be launched in 2014

Posted:

After a meeting between manufacturers and the FIM, Youthstream along with the FIM in Europe have announced that that a new European 300cc 2 stroke Championship will be launched in 2014.

The information on the new series was released via press release sent out by Youthstream, the current promoters of the FIM World Motocross Championship early this morning Australian time.

"After a meeting between manufacturers and FIM, Youthstream and FIM Europe announced the start of a new European 300cc 2 stroke Championship next season," the release stated. "All the parties agreed that this series is likely to have a great success and it will be the base to take part in the FIM Motocross World Championship.

"The market demand of the 2 stroke for Motocross is increasing rapidly. Youthstream plans to hold between 6 to 7 races together with the MXGP (like it is already done for the 125cc and 250cc). The suggested capacity for the technical rules is going to be from 200cc to 300cc 2 stroke.

"Youthstream and FIM Europe believe a large number of riders is going to participate in this Championship, especially taking into account that the FIM MX3 World Championship will stop in 2014 and for sure there will be many riders willing to enter the new European 300cc 2 stroke series." the release concluded.

It is an interesting development for motocross racing world wide, the re introduction of a purely two stroke class to run along side the world championship, combined with an untraditional 300cc cap on the two stroke class will mean most manufactures wishing to compete in the series will need to develop a new bike for the class.
