The Mount Gambier Motorcycle and Light Car Club and the Mount Gambier Junior Motocross Club have reached agreement on the future arrangements for the Motocross Club to continue access to its current location.
At a Special General Meeting, held on 29 June 2013, of the Mount Gambier Motorcycle and Light Car Club, chaired by the President of Motorcycling SA, Mr Brenton Matters, 120 voting members considered the complex issue of the long term hosting of the Motocross Club on Mount Gambier Motorcycle and Light Car Club land.
In January 2013, the Mount Gambier Motorcycle and Light Car Club determined to end the current lease to the Motocross Club on 30 June 2014. This decision has caused significant local community concern, and thus the Special General Meeting called to further discuss and resolve the matter fully.
The Mount Gambier Motorcycle and Light Car Club has subsequently approved an extension of lease to the Motocross Club subject to:
- An annual lease period, expiring 30 June each year;
- Progress towards the identification, security and development of an alternative venue for the club; and
- End date of 30 June 2018, with no extensions beyond this date.
‰ÛÏThe achievement of an agreed outcome, with a reasonable period of time to plan and develop future facility solutions is a great result for both clubs‰Û
