More impressive results from Josh Green at GP of Italy

Posted:

Electraction TM rider Josh Green has moved into sixth place in the ‰Ûª10 Enduro Junior world championship standings and now lies just seven points off fourth following two strong performances at the third round of the Enduro World Championship, the GP of Portugal staged in Lovere, northern Italy.

With a massive 57 Enduro Junior class riders starting the Italian event the Australian made a near perfect start to the race finishing second in class on the Friday night Super Test.

Beaten only by Husaberg factory rider Benoit Fortunato, who would eventually place 10th at the end of the day, Josh then completed a superb opening lap on the first full day of competition placing fourth, fourth, third and first over the four tests.

Looking to continue the good form that saw him place on the podium on day two of the GP of Portugal, Josh backed up his solid opening lap with a good second lap, winning the end-of-lap motocross test. But on the third and final lap things went horribly wrong for Josh and with it his hopes of returning to the podium were ended.

On the technical extreme test he lost one-and-a-half minutes to his rivals placing 48th in class. Despite fighting back as best he could during the three remaining tests he ended the day seventh when a place on the podium looked to be all but secured.

Determined to make amends on day two Josh won the opening extreme test before going on to complete a strong opening lap. Again running into troubles on the extreme test at the start of lap two Josh placed 26th in class, losing around 30 seconds to his rivals.

Forced to again fight back and ride as hard as possible during the remaining seven tests, at the end of a long, hard day Josh finished fourth, missing a place on the podium by 40 seconds. Despite his disappointment at not placing inside the top three on either day Josh again showed impressive speed in only his third Enduro World Championship event.
