Monster Energy SWC deciders return to Leszno

Posted:

The Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup Race Off and Final returns to Leszno for the first time in eight years on July 7/8, 2017.

The legendary Alfred Smoczyk Stadium ‰ÛÒ venue for the 2007 and 2009 Race Offs and Finals ‰ÛÒ stages the events on successive nights, with defending champions Poland seeded into the Final on Saturday, July 8.

They are joined by the winners of Event 1 and 2 and the top nation from the Monster Energy SWC Race Off, which also takes place in Leszno on Friday, July 7 ‰ÛÒ featuring the second and third-placed teams from Events 1 and 2.

Poland lifted the Ove Fundin Trophy for the seventh time at Manchester‰Ûªs National Speedway Stadium on July 30.

The likes of Bartosz Zmarzlik, Maciej Janowski and Patryk Dudek will be determined to force their way into team manager Marek Cieslak‰Ûªs team on home shale, along with Leszno-born heroes Krzysztof Kasprzak and brothers Piotr and Przemyslaw Pawlicki.

BSI Speedway managing director Torben Olsen can‰Ûªt wait to bring two of world speedway‰Ûªs biggest events back to the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium.

"Leszno is a true speedway city with a great history of staging FIM Speedway Grand Prix and FIM Speedway World Cup events," Olsen said.

‰ÛÏIt‰Ûªs a real pleasure to return next summer and I‰Ûªm sure we‰Ûªre in for two days of fantastic racing on one of the world‰Ûªs top race tracks.

‰ÛÏPoland will be determined to win their second straight gold medal on home soil. No host nation has won the gold medal since we started seeding the staging country into the Final. Maybe the Poles will be the first?‰Û
