Mixed weekend for Hart and Huntington’s Josh Hill in Darwin

Posted:

The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide / Suzuki race team opened their 2013 Terex Australian Supercross campaign with mixed results at Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway on the weekend of September the 14th and 15th.

Team Rider Josh Hill headed in to the double header opening weekend as one of the series favourites and quickly showed why he held that tag, when he posted the fourth fastest time in qualifying for round one on Saturday morning.

Saturday evenings main event started with a bad jump out of the gate which left the former AMA Supercross main event winner second to last exiting the first turn. Hill put his head down and fought his way back through the pack, with his smooth style, making some great passes along the way.

By the time the chequered flag fell, the RM-Z450 pilot had worked his way to a very solid fourth place finish.

With some bike changes made for Sunday's round two due to the deteriorating track the was not fully suited for Supercross only suspension, Hill struggled to ride to his full potential.

The American was able to qualify 3rd fastest in the morning qualifying session before riding to second place in his afternoon heat race behind eventual round winner Matt Moss.

With a better jump off the gate on Sunday compared to Saturday, Hill found himself in 4th place early in the race. Unfortunately with for Hill he was unable to push at 100% with his set up not no suiting the Darwin track, that formed like a motocross track with Supercross obstacles as the day progressed.

‰ÛÏI‰Ûªm disappointed that we did not come with some MX style suspension, as I believe I have what it takes to run up the front of the pack." Hill comment at the conclusion of Sunday evening's race.

"We will regroup and be more prepared for the coming rounds of the series.‰Û
