Saturday night at Mildura‰Ûªs Olympic Stadium was an absolute scorcher both on and off the track, for round two of the 2017 Australian Speedway Solo Championship, that saw plenty of thrills, spills and upsets as local favourites shone bright in the sweltering 42 degree heat.
The field was jam-packed for round two in a very healthy showing of solo competitors and teams ready and willing to battle it out for all important points ahead of round three in the short four round 2017 Australian Championship.
The already hot night heated up further, for previous Speedway Championship sensation, Troy Batchleor who‰Ûªs bike spectacularly caught fire in heat six. Batchelor continuing on to compete on his spare bike in the B Final.
Justin Sedgmen was the hometown favourite tipped to clean up the round, however that was not to be as he was excluded from from the A Final in a technicality. Winning the A Final, was Sam Masters with Max Fricke and David Watt nipping at his heels.
Masters shared his thoughts coming into Undera; ‰ÛÏGillman has always been my weak round, but to come here and win is great because it takes the pressure off coming into Undera. It was a hard night beacuase it was so hot which made life hard for everyone in the end. But we all had a good night.‰Û
