The first round of the 2014 Privateer North Cup kicked off at Conondale on the weekend, providing the chance for riders who aren‰Ûªt supported by a factory team to kick-start their own battles.

The North Cup will take place over the next three rounds of the championship, concluding at Coolum from 30-31 August.

Conondale marked round one of the North Cup where Suzuki rider Hayden Mellross took the maximum 35 points up for grabs in the Motul MX1 class, followed closely by Husqvarna rider Darcy Jones who collected 32 points for second.

KTM‰Ûªs Scott Green finished the day in third, followed by Daniel McEntee and TM‰Ûªs Joel Milesevic to round out the MX1 class.

Mellross also managed a ninth overall for the day after top-ten finishes in the two final motos, seeing him move into eighth in the Monster Energy MX1 Championship.
