Maximus Purvis Gaining Ground And Confidence in the MX1 Class

Posted:

Kiwi Maximus Purvis is making headway in his step up from the MX2 250 class to the big bore MX1 450 class.

Maximus Purvis made big strides forward at round four of the Pro MX when he charged another top 10 finish, in the premier MX1 division at Maitland, NSW.

Purvis completed the round in seventh place finish but his racing and speed clearly stepped up a notch on the weekend as he battle at the front of the pack and often was the rider moving forward in the later stages of each race.

The quiet Kiwi finished with 7-8-4 results across the three motos to come home in seventh place with the highlight coming in the third and final leg of the day when he blitz his way to a fourth place and within four seconds of the race leader.

The consistent weekend sees Purvis maintain his seventh position in the championship but tops up his confidence knowing he can now mix it with the best in the MX1 class.

“It’s taken some time to find my feet on the 450 but I feel I have settled into the bike well now and my riding is coming along well. With each race I find a bit more and the last race today was good as I was able to get a decent start and then learn the pace of the guys at the front.

“I need that to be the benchmark of what I’m capable of at each round and aim for a top five position in every race.

“Thank you to the WBR Yamaha Bulk Nutrients Team for all their effort and together we can continue to improve at every round,” Purvis states.

Regular teammate, Alex Larwood, wasn’t able to contest the Maitland round as he sustained a leg injury while preparing for the event. Larwood is well on the way to recovery and is expected to be back at the Albury round in a months’ time.

Liam Andrews continues to learn the ropes in a support ride with the team in the MX2 class. Andrews battles for a top 10 position in each race as he finds his way as a rookie in the highly competitive class. He finished in 13th place on the weekend with 13-11 results and is 17th in the championship
