Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider Maxime Renaux has been cleared of serious injury following a crash during Race 2 at the MXGP of Switzerland, the sixth round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship.
The 24-year-old Frenchman, who began the season with a commanding victory at the MXGP of Argentina, showed strong form across the Swiss weekend. After fighting through the field to finish fifth in Race 1, Renaux was running in podium contention in Race 2 when disaster struck. Battling for second place with just three laps to go, he was thrown over the handlebars after a small tabletop and was unable to finish the race.
Following immediate medical assessment at the trackside facility, FIM doctors confirmed that Renaux suffered an acute contusion to the gluteal region (Butt) and left hip joint. Thankfully, a full diagnostic evaluation ruled out any fractures or structural damage.
“I’m lucky to escape this big crash with no major injury,” Renaux said. “It’s not an easy period for me right now, and we need to monitor my recovery over the next few days to make a plan for the upcoming races. Hopefully these two weeks will bring good healing and I’ll be able to line up in Portugal. But I’ll take my time and not rush the process, as my body needs rest now.”
Renaux’s season began on a high note with a dominant overall win at the opening round in Argentina, where he claimed second in Race 1 and led every lap of Race 2. However, since then, results have been mixed. As of April 23, he sits fifth in the MXGP standings with 188 points.
His participation in the upcoming MXGP of Portugal remains uncertain as he focuses on recovery.
