Max Nagl Out Of German MXGP Race After Qualifying Race Crash

Posted:

The 2015 World Motocross Championship has taken another huge twist, with Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing‰Ûªs championship leader Max Nagl unable to line up for round 10 of the 2015 FIM Motocross World Championship at Teutschenthal today.

During Saturday‰Ûªs MXGP qualifying race Nagl made contact with another rider soon after the start, crashing as a result. At this point Max was hit in the ankle. Knowing something wasn‰Ûªt as it should be with his left ankle he immediately rode back to the pit area, taking no further part in the race.

X-rays at the track confirmed a fracture to his ankle, with Max taken immediately to Halle Hospital where he underwent minor surgery. As a result of his injury and subsequent surgery Max will take no further part in the MXGP of Germany.

Max will undergo further investigations in Belgium on Monday to determine an exact recovery time.

Honda's Evgeny Bobryshev won the qualifying race overnight to give himself the first gate pick for the first of the two points paying moto's on Sunday afternoon.

The winner of the pervious two MXGP rounds, Yamaha's Romain Febvre finished in second spot, with his team-mate Jeremy Van Horebeek a further 20 seconds back in third.

Australian, Dean Ferris returned after missing round 9 due to illness to qualify fourth aboard his Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna, while country man Todd Waters and Nagls team-mate Todd Waters backed up his maiden MXGP podium last weekend by qualifying 7th in Germany.

Antonio Cairoli finished the qualifying race down in 11th position, over one minute behind Bobryshev as he continues to ride through the pain of a broken arm.
