Matt Moss has dominated the opening round of the 2013 Terex Australian Supercross Championship in Darwin, NT today in front of a healthy crowd at the Hidden Valley motor-sport circuit.
The Motul Pirelli Suzuki racer who topped the time sheets during practice on Friday, continued his time topping run today, setting the fastest lap in qualifying before going on to win his heat race leading from start to finish.
The recently crowned 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals MX1 Champion then continued his recent run of fine form, by grabbing the holeshot in the main event and was never headed, controlling the race from start to finish earning himself the championship leaders red plate for round two tomorrow.
It was a double celebration of sorts for Matt Moss, with his twin brother Jake Moss aboard his Campbell Mining Suzuki locking into second spot early in the race, before going on to finish in second position, giving the Moss brothers the perfect 1-2 finish, the first time the duo have managed the feat since the age of 12.
"That win felt really good, I think it is my first ever 450 win in Supercross." Moss stated. "It was a tough evening, it was hot and the track was pretty gnarly but we got the job done.
"I got the hole shot and had my brother behind me so there was a little less pressure with him behind me. It was the first time us two have gone 1-2 in a race," Moss added.
"Myself and Jake are starting to find our stride together and it was a great day, it was good to get the win, I was hoping for a top three so to get the win is a bonus and we will just keep chipping away.
"The guys at Motul Pirelli Suzuki have been awesome and to have Dan Reardon from Alteregoelite helping us all weekend makes the weekend so easy." Moss concluded.
