Mathis Valin will miss this weekend’s FIM Motocross World Championship round in Sardinia as he continues recovering from a hand injury, with the event marking the start of three back-to-back GPs.
One weekend off was not enough for the factory Kawaskai MX2 rider to recover from the hand injury he sustained during the MXGP of Castilla la Manche. Mathis raced in pain at Saint Jean d’Angely two weeks ago and, in agreement with the Kawasaki Racing Team, he will sit out the MXGP of Sardinia this weekend.
Last weekend was a good one for Kawasaki riders as Romain Febvre won the opening round of the Dutch Masters, while Bobby Bruce won the opening round of the British MX2 series and Francisco Garcia finished runner-up in the MX2 French Elite Championship. Romain Febvre and Pauls Jonass will represent Kawasaki in Sardinia, while the EMX250 riders will be back in action at Arco di Trento one week later.
Antti Pyrhonen (KRT manager), said, “Injury is not welcome, but it is not entirely unexpected. It’s early in the season and there are plenty of points and podiums ahead for Mathis so we have opted to get him back to full fitness as soon as possible rather than send him out at less than 100% in Sardinia.”
