Mark Wilkinson racing for the Gearlink Kawasaki Superstock 600 team in the British Superbike Championship has raced to his best ever result in the series at Knockhill over the weekend.

The Australian's weekend did not start off the way he planned when he qualified in 23rd position, but with a good start followed a determined race long effort to pick off one rider at a time, the rider hailing from Bendigo in Victoria worked his way through to 7th place for his best ever finish.

"I had an exciting race today, but it was a tough weekend though." Wilkinson commented after his race on Sunday. "I qualified in 23rd place meaning the race was always going to be very hard for me.

"I made a good start and chipped away all race long and eventually placing in seventh place, which is my best result ever in the BSB Superstock Championship, so I am very happy with the overall race result.

"It was good to have my brother Micka over from Australia this week and I would like to thank all the Gearlink Kawasaki team for all their work this weekend.

"Also a big thank you to everyone back in Australia for their support and Plaza Auto Sales, GS Automotive, ROMP Design, The Oil Warehouse for all their help in 2013." Wilkinson concluded.

Fellow Australian Kawasaki rider, racing in the Superstock 600 class for the Motobreakers Kawasaki team, Levi Day had the opposite weekend to Wilkinson. The Mount Gambier, S.A rider who qualified on pole position for the race had an off-track excursion during the race, but was able to recover for a solid 10th place finish.
