The fourth leg of the 2023 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship commenced at Red Bull Outliers, where Manuel Lettenbichler triumphed in the prologue at Calgary, Canada.

The German emerged victorious, claiming his inaugural prologue win for the season. Billy Bolt secured second place, while Candian Trystan Hart secured the third spot.

The FIM Hard Enduro World Championship’s fourth stop kicked off energetically in Calgary, Canada, with an electrifying urban prologue heralding the start of Red Bull Outliers. Riders encountered a concise yet demanding endurocross course. Through a series of heats and semi-finals, the riders were determined for the ultimate nine-lap final race.

A consistent contender for the prologue’s top position, Bolt convincingly clinched victory in both his heat race and semi-final, securing his advancement to the final. In the second heat race, Jonny Walker narrowly outpaced Lettenbichler to secure victory, whereas Ryder Leblond claimed victory in the third heat race.

Bolt led the first semi-final, besting Walker and Leblond, while Lettenbichler showcased his speed in the second semi-final, with Hart coming second and Alfredo Gomez securing the third spot. The scene was set for a thrilling final race beneath Calgary’s skyscrapers.

From the outset, the frontrunners aggressively vied for positions in the final race, sometimes pushing their limits a bit too far. Bolt suffered a crash that set him back, requiring him to make up considerable ground in a short span. Meanwhile, Lettenbichler showcased exceptional form in the lead, aiming for his maiden prologue win of the season.

Billy Bolt secured a determined second place in the prologue.

Executing nine impeccable laps, Lettenbichler held off a rapidly recovering Bolt to capture the podium’s top spot, along with the crucial three championship points. For Bolt, the outcome represented a tale of missed opportunities. Acknowledging his early and aggressive approach on the slippery surface, he managed a commendable second place finish.

Manuel Lettenbichler expressed his elation, stating, “I’m stoked, it’s my first time winning a prologue! I had a clean run and tried not to make any mistakes, which paid off. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.”

Billy Bolt admitted, “I had a stupid crash, which was my own fault. I pushed a bit too hard too early and paid the price. I was happy to get past Trystan at the end and take second.”

Hart also encountered a mid-race fall that dashed his hopes of clinching victory. Despite making progress and closing in on Lettenbichler, a fall into the obstacles forced him to settle for third.

Trystan Hart remarked, “Ah man that was a crazy final. We were pushing hard. I had a bad start, but got up to third and then into second when Billy crashed. But then I crashed and slipped back to third. It was good fun though!”

Impressing with his performance, Leblond snared fourth place, while Gomez secured the fifth position.

With the prologue completed, Sunday’s racing at the iconic Badlands in Steveville promises a busy schedule, including three races. The morning begins with a two-hour amateur event, followed by a two-hour Expert race. Finally, the winner of round four will be determined by the two-hour 30-minute Pro main event.
