Wilson's Jetpilot Racing's, Luke Wilson has already put the bad luck he suffered at round three of the 2013 Terex Australian Supercross Championship, held in Mount Gambier, South Australia last weekend behind him and is focusing on coming away with two solid results at Phillip Island for rounds four and five this weekend.
After getting the day off to a slower start than he would have liked in qualifying and his heat race, qualifying in 15th and finishing 7th in his heat, the Kawasaki KX250F pilot found his flow when it counted in the night‰Ûªs main event.
Though he was not able to get the jump out of the gate he needed, Wilson quickly worked his way through the field and had just made a pass into 10th, and had the ninth place rider in his sights when things took a turn for a worse.
Coming together with another rider, Wilson found himself on the ground. Not wanting to give up, Wilson though in some pain remounted his Jetpilot backed machine only to notice his front break disc had been bent and was causing front wheel to jam every time he hit a jump.
Knowing there were still points on offer, Wilson battled through the final 8 laps, finishing the race in 14th position.
"Tonight certainly did not go to plan," a tired and beat up Wilson stated at the end of the night. "By the end of the main event it was just a matter of finishing off the race and picking up some valuable points.
"I did not get the best start in the main, but I was working my way forward and was feeling the best I had all day during that race, witch was a positive. I had just worked my way into tenth place and was starting to reel in the boys just ahead of me, so it would have been another good round if I did not crash.
"We only lost one position in the championship tonight, moving us back to 11th position which I guess is a positive," Wilson added.
Wilson who resides on the Gold Coast, has already turned his attention to this weekends Phillip Island rounds of the championship, which for the second year in a row will be ran along side the Australian round of the Moto Gp Championship, giving both the Wilson's Jet Pilot racing team and their sponsors the some huge national and international exposure.
"I am looking forward to heading back to Phillip Island, I really liked the track there last year and the place always has a good vibe down there with so many people coming to watch, it should be a great weekend for sure." Wilson concluded.
