Luke Gough chasing the American Dream

Posted:

Multiple Australian Long Track Title holder, Luke Gough, is set to this month broaden his horizons when he goes over to America to race in Flat Track Motorcycle competition. With the aim of making his passion of Motorcycle racing into a full-time career later down the track, Gough believes his move to America, where he will be based out of Washington on the West Coast, will definitely enhance his chances, but for the meantime he is aiming to just have fun and learn as much as he can in order to be competitive. "The goal is to get myself established within the Single Cylinder AMA Championship and work towards joining the Twin Cylinders in AMA Championship for 2009, and in order to do that I need to get enough points this year on my licence, and of course to enjoy myself, and work towards being competitive on a consistent basis," Gough explained. "I want to also do as much racing as possible, and at the moment I need as much track time as possible so that I can build up speed and consistency in order to work towards my goal of joining the AMA Championship for next year in the Twin Cylinder class." Gough in no stranger to America and it was last year that he made his second appearance over there, and that has made him even hungrier to return and be successful. "When I have been over there for the past two years it was all very new to me, and I was using other people's bikes, but this time around I will have my own bike, and my destiny is basically in my own hands," admitted 21-year-old. "I'm not basing myself in America just to make up the numbers, I'm serious about my Flat Track racing and establishing myself in the AMA Championship, and I have a number of strong connections over there that are playing a big part in making this all happen." In order to gain a place in next year's Twin Cylinder AMA Championship, Gough must compete 2008 in the single cylinder class of AMA Championship. Special thanks must go to Johnson Cams, Tusk Racing Heads, and Drummond Evans from www.flattrackstuff.com for their ongoing support of Gough.
