Defending Monster Energy AMA Supercross Champion Jason Anderson had a less than perfect start to his 450SX title defence at a soaked opening round at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA, on Saturday night.

Anderson was top-five at the start of the 450SX heat race and stayed consistent to finish fifth and transfer to the 450 Main Event. He was top-five at the start of the Main and battled the tough conditions the entire moto. His early pace slowly dwindled in the trying conditions and slid back through the field to 14th place at the conclusion of the 20 lap main.

"Anaheim was an interesting day," said Anderson in an offical team release. "Practice wasn't bad, and the heat race was ok. It rained so hard in the main and I struggled. I'm ready to focus on next week's race in Glendale and I'm looking forward to getting back on the box."

Anderson later posted to his Instagram account, saying, "Man yesterday did not go well... kinda overwhelmed with everything going on and wasn‰Ûªt myself at all. Looking forward to bringing it back around in the next rounds and really want to thank my crew for all the support no matter how i do. Sorry guys but still looking forward and ready to give 110% the rest of the season!"

Anderson will be sure to regroup when round 2 takes place on January 12 for the Glendale Supercross at Glendale, AZ in State Farm Stadium.
