Following a ceremonial start on the turquoise coast of Jurien Bay, yesterday‰Ûªs Prologue leg (Leg 0) put competitors through their paces in tracks winding through narrow and twisting coastal vegetation and finishing with a run along the beach in soft sand.
It was only a seven-kilometre stage but it still challenged competitors and set the scene for Australasian Safari 2013.
Lee Stephens opened up the bike category of this years event with the fastest time in the prologue stage for this year Australasian Safari and will lead out defending champion Jake Smith and his brother Todd.
Stephens, who has a free entry into Safari from winning the Safari Challenge at the Condo 750 off-road rally this year, was more than happy with the time he set as he enters the Safari for the first time on his inaugural trip to Western Australia

Last year‰Ûªs moto winner Jake Smith said it was all good for him out there yesterday.
