KTM Riders Eye A Successful Return To The Great Indoors

KTM Motocross Racing Team riders Kirk Gibbs and Jesse Dobson are excited and looking forward to the Australian Supercross Championship‰Ûªs return to indoor racing this Saturday evening.
The fifth and final round of the national championship sees competition move within the confines of Brisbane‰Ûªs Boondall Entertainment Centre, an environment which is likely to place a premium on precision, finesse and controlled aggression.
Despite his relative lack of experience in the night-time form of the sport, team leader rider Kirk Gibbs is currently part of a tense three-way battle for second place in the Australian Supercross championship, and the Queensland based rider hopes the home crowd advantage will be enough to push him over the line.
‰ÛÏIt's going to be tight, I have only raced two indoor venues, and the last one of those was that Rod Laver a reader, so that's pretty small." Gibbs commented. "It'll be good to see how it all goes, but it's definitely going to be tight.
"I'm sure there will be some plastic traded between riders! We did a bit of testing and we worked a loss on turning so hopefully it is going to pay dividends this weekend. I feel like we've got the bike turning really well, and that's hats off to Danny Apro and the team, they work and they come up with the right things in the directions I want to go in, and I think we are on the right track.‰Û

His team mate, 17-year-old Jesse Dobson continues to be the surprise packet of the SX1 championship, and holds sixth place in the Premier championship, in what is his first ever Supercross championship.
‰ÛÏI felt pretty good, I've had a nice lead up to this event and it's been nice to have a couple of weeks off, not that they are weeks off, because we‰Ûªre always training." Dobson explained. "We‰Ûªve had Apro up and done a bit of testing, and Gibbsy‰Ûªs been riding with me a bit too, and I'm looking forward to riding a tacky track this weekend.
"I‰Ûªve never done an indoor before so I'm a first timer - along with a few other riders I think. I'm expecting it to be close racing, I think everyone's going to be banging bars, and I think that after this weekend there may be a few more rivalries out there going into next year.
"But I think it will be awesome, particularly with the fans being so close, and what should be a big crowd so I'm looking forward to it.‰Û
Brenden Harrison is looking to finishing off the season on a high in front of his home town crowd
In Pro Lites racing, round one winner and KTM Instant Security rider Brenden Harrison was gutted to watch his championship prospects take a dive after terrible luck at Phillip Island, but the third-placed Queenslander is going to Boondall to finish with a home win, while sixth placed Tune-Tech KTM rider Kale Makeham will be targeting a number of riders within easy range to improve his championship position.
‰ÛÏEverything is really good here." Brenden admitted. "I Had a break, and done a fair bit of riding, and feeling really, really good and just want to redeem myself and come out on top in front of my hometown crowd. I could not ask for anything better than that.
"I just want to win and I know I can and that's it. That's what I'm going there for, and I'll be disappointed if I don't get that.‰Û
Jack Simpson leads the SXD class into action on Saturday night - Credit:AM Media
In SXD racing, Tune Tech KTM‰Ûªs Jack Simpson knows his slender four-point championship lead is not a defence situation, and he has to go to Brisbane to win. Doubtless though, fellow KTM-mounted championship top-three riders Dylan Wills and Brock McLeary will have a very similar agenda.
‰ÛÏI'm ready to rumble, 100% fit, the bike is 100%, and I‰Ûªm going in swinging." Simpson stated. "My lead is bugger-all, so I'm just treating it as another race, which means I want to go first or second in each race, and give ‰Û÷em hell again.
"The plan is I definitely need awesome starts to put myself in as good a position as I can be, and hopefully run away with it. But if I don't get the starts ‰ÛÒ nice, clean easy passing and stay out of trouble.‰Û
