It‰Ûªs an opportunity too good to turn down and Mangakino‰Ûªs Kayne Lamont is grabbing at it with both fists.

The 16-year-old double New Zealand junior motocross champion headed off to Europe this week in a bid to carve out a career for himself in the heady world of Grand Prix motocross.

A Suzuki RM125 will be waiting for him when he arrives in England on Friday. He will be involved in training and testing near Swindon before crossing the English Channel to race in mainland Europe.

Just as Motueka‰Ûªs Josh Coppins and Bay of Plenty‰Ûªs Ben Townley did when they were teenagers, Lamont heads to the other side of the world to take on the elite of the world‰Ûªs 125cc motocross racers.

Lamont will contest the last five rounds of this year‰Ûªs 125cc European Motocross Championships (EMX125), a support class to the MX1 and MX2 world championships, as well as following through on his original plan to contest the Junior World Motocross Championships, that event set for France on August 21-25.

Lamont‰Ûªs first big EMX125 race is set for France on June 6, with rounds to follow in Germany (June 20), Sweden (July 4), the Czech Republic (August 8) and Italy (September 12).

And, in his farewell race meeting, Lamont finished top of the podium in two classes. Lamont won both the 15-16 years‰Ûª 125cc and 14-16 years‰Ûª 250cc categories at the weekend‰Ûªs second and final round of the North Island Motocross Championships in Taranaki.

‰ÛÏIt was a good way to sign off in New Zealand,‰Û
