Kirk Hutton ready to go
Yamaha Queensland Off Road Team rider Kirk Hutton has won the second round of the Queensland Yamaha Sprint Cross Country Series near near Boonah, about an hour an a half south east of Brisbane, last weekend. 180 riders turned out to the event which changed from its original format which consists of three, class mass start 30-minute races, to an enduro cross format (the same as "esprint" format), with riders competing against the clock and doing one lap at a time. YZ250 mounted Hutton blitzed the Pro Open field in the semi-loamy to dry conditions winning the event by more than two minutes after the four laps. John Day took second overall behind Hutton with Hutton's team-mate Grant Siebenhausen securing third, despite having a major crash and crushing his left foot against a tree. "I was really happy with how the event yesterday went," Hutton said. "Basically, I had a mistake-fee day. I felt very confident on the bike as I have it set up just how I want it. "Everything went to plan. The track was good, back to the true Queensland-style, mostly dry and dusty with rocks and logs. "I found my speed had picked up quite a lot [from the first round] because the win margin was greater than last time. I think now that the first race of the season was over with I was feeling more comfortable with the bike and my fitness has improved." Hutton said he was looking forward to the next Queensland event, the first round of the Yamaha Queensland Two Day Enduro Championships that will be held at Manar Park on March 22 and 23. Keeping the Yamaha Queensland Off Road Team in the lime light was Women's all powers winner Jemma Wilson who took a convinsing win in the class ahead of Leigh Hutton. Wilson said, "The race went brilliant, it was heaps of fun My WR250F went extremely well and I didn't really make too many mistakes. Pro Open top 3
