Kirk Hutton
Multi time ISDE gold medal winner, A4DE and Queensland Champion, Kirk Hutton returns to race for Yamaha and will spearhead the new Yamaha Queensland Off Road Team for the 2008 season. Hutton will be the main man of the three-rider team and will also include Grant Siebenhausen and Jemma Wilson. The team will contest all local, state and national off road events competing on a variety of Yamaha machinery for the 2008 season. Joining Yamaha in supporting the team will be Caboolture Motorcycles, GYTR, Yamalube, Yamaha Motor Finance (YMF), Fox, Dunlop, DID, Ballards Off Road and a few more still to be announed. "I am excited about 2008 and the deal Yamaha have put in place for me. They have really stepped up their off road racing program and I‰Ûªm proud that they have selected me to be a part of this program," said Hutton. At 34 years of age, Hutton has compiled a list of championships the envy of others and still shows no signs of slowing down. His recent gold medal finish at the toughest off road event of them all, The 2007 International Six-Day Enduro held in Chile is testament to that. At Kirk‰Ûªs disposal will be the Australia‰Ûªs most popular bike, the 2008 WR450F, as well as his tried and tested, the ultra high performance 2008 model YZ250 two stroke. "All my best results have come on board the YZ250 two stroke. Yamaha make the best two strokes going around and I just love riding and racing that bike. But this year, I might change it up a little and hit a few events on the WR450 four stroke," says the King of Queensland off road. Joining Hutton will be up and coming talent, Grant Siebenhausen, who will be supported by Caboolture Motorcycles and contest the 2008 season on board a WR450F. Siebenhausen has long been at the fore front of off road racing in Queensland has been rewarded for his hard work and will be the perfect partner for Hutton. "Every rider who races a dirt bike wants to be on a manufacturer supported team and Yamaha have given me the chance for 2008. To be partnering Kirk and learning from him will be great and I can only see good things coming my way in 2008," says the excited Stevenhousen. The amount of women riding dirt bikes continues to rise and the selection of Jemma Wilson is a reflection of their standing in the market place as well as her ability on the bike. She will compete on the 2008 WR250FX and also represent the sports ATV market and ride the new Raptor 450 at selected events with the support of the Caboolture Motorcycles dealership. "Yamaha have been a fantastic supporter of women‰Ûªs racing. In Queensland there is a girls motocross team and now I‰Ûªm part of their off road racing. I look forward to the 2008 season and hope to deliver the team great results and promote girls riding dirt bikes," Wilson offers. The man behind the new team is Yamaha Queensland Sales Manager, Ray Howard. Howard, when not in the office, is a trail enthusiast himself and is excited at the formation of the Yamaha Queensland Off Road. "These riders represent the biggest section of the bike buying market, the off road/ trail bike segment, so it was only natural we promote our range of bikes via a race team. Hutton is the undisputed King of Enduro in Queensland and a long term and loyal Yamaha rider. This team is a reward for his efforts. I also look forward to the development of Grant and Jemma and know they will do a great job on promoting and raising the profile of the Yamaha off road range in the coming year," Howard said. All Yamaha Queensland race teams; Queensland Yamaha Junior Development Team, GYTR/ Queensland Yamaha Dealer Team, Queensland Yamaha Girls Motocross and now the Queensland Yamaha Off Road Team come under the one umbrella and provide the best state based race teams in the country.
