Kessner KTM Dominate SAORC Round 5

Posted:

Awesome weather greeted the riders at round five of the 2014 South Australian Off-Road Championship held just outside of Auburn last Sunday the 3rd of August.

Perfect green grass tracks, rolling across the hills made for perfect race conditions with Kessner KTM's Junior rider Dale Watson come out of the first corner in second and by the end of the first lap had a minute lead over the rest of the field.

Fellow Kessner KTM rider Locky Kennedy worked his way into second after the end of the first lap after a bad start but continued to have trouble in the difficult creek crossings. Dale rode smooth and consistent to a very impressive win by 3 minutes ahead of Kennedy to give the team the pefect start to the round.

The senior race started with the Pro and expert on the first row of the grid with Ivan long rounding the first corner in second before moving into the lead shortly after. Harry Norton getting a good jump aboard his 300exc moved into second on the first lap and would hold this position for the first two laps before a mistake saw team-mate Todd Barry move through and take off after Long.

Fellow kessner motorcycles rider Dave Jongebloed moved Past Norton early on the third lap, meaning an epic battle between Dave and Todd that lasted the duration of the race (2.5 hours)

Final Placings would see Long take the win followed by Jongebloed in second and Barry in third, giving the team a clean sweep of the Pro class podium.

‰ÛÏThe weather was perfect, although the track was on the boggy side, with some deep bog holes," runner up Barry explained. "I love the tricky stuff though, the 350 was perfect for the job.

"Even though the radiators where full and the bike was boiling it still held strong for a whole two laps.

"A huge thanks to the kessner Motorcycles racing team for all their help and giving the 350 some much needed love after the event.‰Û
