KCDBC Ready To Host Enduro-X On New Permenent Track In Yeppoon

Posted:

More than six months in the making, The KCDBC have almost completed diversifying their venue to transform the Coastal Park Motocross Track into a multi complex facility ahead of the Yeppoon Enduro-X that is set to be held on the 22nd of August.

The KCDBC has always been a MX club, however with the changing times in our sport, and a venue which lends itself beautifully to spectators, the club knew it was time to think differently to blend and promote the two disciplines whilst strengthening the club and getting spectators to the sport.

Coming from a Enduro background, and being the club president in a great local MX club, I see great opportunity moving forward.

Every effort has been made to achieve maximum spectator enjoyment and the track will include a spectator infield, race commentators and up close action. The KCDBC are passionate to set the standard for Enduro-X in Central Qld and keep the momentum of the concept and growth of Enduro-X in Australia alive.

The club as paid particular attention to building a track that they see as a world class standard track, using only quality materials within the track and will be a showcase to spectators and a whole bunch of fun times for riders!
The Track will include deep sand pits, watered 10m rock sections, 10m of rock pools replicating creeks, a number of log matrix and major log features , mining tyre obstacles, tyre walls, tyre doubles whilst including mx track sections of berms, whoops, ski jumps, step ups just to name a few.

The "fully watered" dust free track is 1200m in length and comprises of 570m of Enduro-X obstacles and around 630m of fast flowing MX track which I think offers a great actioned packed mix and will allow riders to get their breath between Enduro sections. No less than 95 logs, 4 truck loads of Rock, 21 large Mine truck tyres, 15 Scraper tyres, 15 Cubic metres of sand have been put in place already and the track is nearing completion withinin the next few weeks. Any areas of track that is not existing MX track is currently being blended with a loamy substance to achieve maximum rider enjoyment.

The club is recovering from Cyclone Marcia which crossed the coast at Yeppoon as a Cat 5 earlier this year and we have been working overtime to rebuild the track and facilities and have been receiving great local support from a number of business and valued sponsors.
Considering the damage was to the point the army spent a week at the track with chainsaws just to clear the track, things are well and truly back on the mend and going full steam ahead to the event.

"The first of its kind in the Central Qld area and possibly Australia", the facility and track design has allowed a permanently erected Enduro-X track to be built as a "track within a track" and can be easily switched between Enduro-X and MX with the switching of a few tyre corners like a train track switch block within minutes." Paul Warr from the KCDBC said.

"After the event the track will be able to be opened for practice days for either Enduro-X or Motocross and even coaching days.

"We have a number of well classed riders nominating and showing support to the event including local riders who have competed in the National Enduro-X series and AORC over the past 2 years such as , Blake Hall, Jack Williams, Jaymie Warr, Scott Holland and Jack Orgill.

"We also have higher level riders such as Kane Hall, Melissa Bruce, Fraser Higlett, Ruben Chadwick just to name a few already confirming attendance.

"We have a special guest Robert Nowak in attendance to ride the event and conduct 2 x 1 Day coaching clinics with Jason Rice and the team @ Just Right Motorcycle Coaching which is a great boost to the talent levels in the local area." Warr added.

"I am excited about riding new places and this event will be great!" Nowak commented. "As soon as I started seeing the pictures of the track being built, I could see the quality of the track that this was going to be an event I wanted to be involved in.

"I Can't wait to meet the riders and the fans in Yeppoon!"
