Kawasaki Joins DECA in the Name of Motorcycle Rider Safety

Posted:

Two of Kawasaki's LAMS (Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme) models, the Ninja 250R and the KLX250SF Supermoto will form the new training fleet and will become the motorcycles that students will ride when undertaking Driver Education Centres of Australia (DECA) motorcycle courses.

Kawasaki motorcycles will make up the new DECA motorcycle training fleet with DECA agreeing that the two Kawasaki models provide the perfect platform for learner riders to hone their skills in a reliable and safe manner.

"DECA will progressively change over its training fleet to feature the Kawasaki models," said lan Mearns, DECA General Manager Sales and Marketing. "We are very pleased to enter into an agreement with such a progressive company as Kawasaki Australia, especially given the company's dedication towards improving the safety of motorcycle riders. lts range is very well-equipped and by early 2011, will have the most comprehensive line-up of ABS-equipped road motorcycles in Australia."

A number of local Kawasaki dealerships in Victoria and Tasmania will also benefit from the new relationship between DECA and Kawasaki. Kawasaki Dealerships will be called upon to provide parts and service support and display new motorcycles at DECA Branches.

Kawasaki Australia's National Sales and Marketing Manager, Robert Walker, says, "DECA is a major training company with strong ideas about improving rider training and safety ... their operations and infrastructure are highly regarded."

"We're looking forward to new riders being able to learn on some great Kawasaki models - with professional trainers - which will lead to more recognition of the Kawasaki brand name as one that customers can rely on. This relationship with DECA is new and important and we have been impressed with their professionalism - we are proud to have our brand name associated with DECA."

DECA has 35 years of experience in driver training and is based in modern, purpose-designed facilities in the Melbourne suburb of Altona North. lt operates additional training facilities at Shepparton, Carrum Downs, Puckapunyal and Newborough in Victoria, Sydney in New South Wales and Hobart in Tasmania. lt trains over 8,000 motorcyclists a year and along with Kawasaki, is a major sponsor of the 2010 Victorian Pink Ribbon Ride, a motorcycle event to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and victim support.
