It is yet to be officially confirmed but I can tell you that double FIM World Women‰Ûªs Motocross Champion, Katherine Prumm has secured a worldwide ‰Û÷factory‰Ûª ride with Yamaha. I have personal approval from her father Erich to announce it on 01 February. The Yamaha emphasis is on Europe as the five-round 2008 Women's World Championship starts in May. In Europe she will ride for Yamaha Van Beers Racing Team and she will live in Holland. The five rounds are: Bulgaria - 11 May, Italy - 18 May, France - 15 June, Germany - 29 June and the Netherlands - 07 September. Her contract includes racing for Yamaha in Australia and New Zealand. The NZ Team is of course that run by Darryll King under the banner Subway Yamaha. Her racing schedule is very tight and she may miss some races downunder. 19 year old Katherine Prumm‰Ûªs performance last weekend at the 47th annual New Zealand Motocross Grand Prix at Woodville shows she is now racing better than ever. As expected she was unbeaten in the three Women's Class races on the Friday and Saturday. On the Sunday she rode against the best New Zealand has to offer in the GP250 cc 4 stroke Class sometimes referred to as MX2. She surprised the 3000-4000 race fans and racers alike when she won the ‰Û÷holeshot‰Ûª in the two opening races. Her best result of the 3 motos was a 6th and overall she ranked 7th on the day. The Netherlands based Yamaha Van Beers Racing Team is arguably one of the most professional team structures in the world of Grand Prix Motocross. Van Beers came to prominence during the 2006 MX1 World Championship when rider Manuel Priem finished 8th. They also celebrated two Dutch championships thanks to the efforts of Priem and Aigar Leok. In the 2007 FIM Motocross World championship it was Aigar Leok and Lauris Freibergs both scored good results in both MX1 moto‰Ûªs while Dennis Verbruggen battled in both MX2 races. For 2008 Yamaha Van Beers Racing Team has confirmed Evgeny Bobryshev as MX2 rider. The talented Russian teenager from Kaluga, has inked a two year deal with the Dutch based team after an impressive ride at the European MX of Nations where Bobryshev beat factory riders , Maxi Nagl, Manuel Priem and Marcus Schiffer in the final Moto of the teams event. Bobryshev will complete the three man team which will include Estonian and former MX2 Dutch champ, Aigar Leok (MX1) as well as Latvian rider Lauris Freibergs (MX1). The nineteen -year-old will participate in all MX2 GP‰Ûªs and Dutch championships as well as selected Russian championship events when possible. Negotiations started back in Novemeber last year.
