Justin Brayton and Hayden Mellross Top Qualifying At Wayville

HGA Honda Racing's Justin Brayton has keep the ball rolling in his bid to win the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship, setting the fastest time during qualifying at round three which is currently underway at the Wayville show-grounds in South Australia.

In hot blustery conditions, Brayton who is undefeated through the opening two rounds, mastered the Adelaide track on his way to setting a 44.924 second lap time to edge out fellow American Wil Hahn by just under .3 of a second, with DPH Motorsports Lawson Bopping rounding out the top three, nearly one-second behind the NPE Monster Energy Kawasaki of Hahn.

Holding down the next two positions was the CDR Yamaha duo of Daniel Reardon and Dean Ferris, while Jesse Dobson topped the unseeded session to qualify sixth fastest overall aboard his KTM Australia 450 SX-F.

American Kyle Peters followed in behind team-mate Dobson in 7th, with NPE Monster Energy Kawasaki's Kade Mosig, Wilson's Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki's Todd Waters and HGA Honda Racing's Adam Enticknap rounding out the top ten.

Hayden Mellross

Like the SX1 class, it was the series points leader who lead the way in the SX2 qualifying session.

DPH Motosports Hayden Mellross fired his Yamaha YZ250F to the fastest lap, using his speed through the whoops to his advantage to edge out round two main event winner and his nearest rival in the points chase, Jackson Richardson.

Richardson himself looked good out on track aboard his Serco Yamaha with two riders along with American Gavin Faith aboard his Penrite Oils Honda looking the smoothest through the all important whoop section.

CRF Racing's Joel Wightman continues to impress, backing up his 5th place result at round two by qualifying 4th at Wayville and is proving to be the break out rider of this years series so far.

Luke Clout made his return to the Australian race scene, posting the 5th fastest time aboard his HGA Honda Racing CRF 250R as once again Yamaha and Honda machinery dominated proceedings in the SX2 class filling the top 12 positions

The Whoops will be a big deciding factor in tonights racing if they are left for the night show - Joel Wightman had them down on his way to 5thi n qualifying.

Qualifying Notes:

While most of the track kept the riders close in times, a long whoop section was the big separator of the field. Stretching nearly the full length of the show grounds oval the section is proving to be tough for the riders, especially the 250F riders, with most of the field hitting the deck at some point during practice and qualifying.

Jesse Dobson had more than his fair share of crashed in the whoops section and also jumped off the berm at after the big quad. But the tough as nails rider got up each and every time. Todd Waters was another rider to launch off the back of the berm after the quad heading into the final turn.

Weather conditions out here in SA are warm, though quite windy which is drying out the track fast. Though things are shaping up great for the nights event and decent crowd is already on hand to watch qualifying.

As mentioned above Yamaha and Honda are the dominant force in the SX2 ranks at the moment holding down the top 12 positions in qualifying between them!
