Julien Beaumer continued to push through adversity at Round 9 of the AMA Supercross Championship in Indianapolis, fighting through the lingering effects of a shoulder injury sustained in Arlington.
The 18-year-old dislocated his shoulder in a crash during practice at Round 7 but gritted out a sixth-place overall finish that night, keeping himself in the 250SX West title fight. With an extra week to recover, Beaumer returned to action in Indy, determined to limit the damage in the East-West Showdown.
“I’m happy with my night in Indy,” Beaumer said. “Obviously, I came in a little bit down, I haven’t ridden since Arlington, so to get P8 in the Showdown was a good night of salvaging points. We’ll get back into therapy this week, get back to 100 percent, and back on the bike before Seattle.”
Despite not riding since Arlington, the Arizona native put in a gritty performance, qualifying seventh and finishing P7 in his Heat Race. In the Main Event, Beaumer managed an eighth-place result, which keeps him second in the 250SX West standings and firmly in title contention as the championship heads to Seattle later this month.
