JT Racing USA relaunches iconic brand with 2011 motocross gear

Posted:

Iconic motocross gear company JT Racing USA is back in motocross for 2011 with a new line of high-end riding gear.

The company that was all over motocross in the '70s, '80s and '90s, announced it's 2011 collection will make its debut Nov. 19-20 at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction ceremony in Las Vegas.

JT Racing had dropped from motocross after the 90's and focused it's business on Paintball protection among other things.

Not only will JT Racing founders John and Rita Gregory be inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame, but several Team JT champions will be on hand, including world champ Danny LaPorte and AMA champions Broc Glover, Donnie Hansen, Jim Gibson, Ronnie Lechien and Chuck Sun.

JT Racing said that "in place of mind-numbing graphics or boring blacks and grays, our gear melds the classic shapes and colors you remember from the sport's glory days with clean, modern design. Think Bailey, LaPorte and Glover with a modern twist."

"What we've done," says JT Racing CEO David Dray, "is bring back the very best of JT Racing. We've taken the best JT designs and technical legacies, modernized them with the latest technology and build quality, and repacked them with the highest levels of style, durability and function. We're bringing back the whole notion of quality and elegance to the motocross world, just as JT Racing did back in the day as it established itself as a world-class motocross brand all those years ago. It's all very exciting!"

JT Racing says the gear was two years in the making. The Classick pant features an "optimum-cut and high-back waistband for a superb fit, even for larger folks." The knees have soft, durable grade-A leather on the inside and pre-curved padded ballistic nylon on the outside. There's plenty of room for knee braces. The pant also features stretch sections and an Air Line System for breathability. "Wear a Classick pant for two laps and you'll be a believer ‰ÛÓ just as our test riders were," the company says. "'It's a sick pant!'" they told us over and over." Thus the pant's name.

JT Racing has two glove models: the lightweight Flex-Feel and slightly more protective Life-Line. "Both are soft and supple for long-moto comfort, yet built with the protection and durability you need," the company says. "Ditto our Pro-Tour Jersey, which will keep you cool under pressure but also fit perfectly and stay tucked in when things get hot and heavy."

The ALS-02 helmet is the successor of JT's ALS-2 helmet of the early '80s, which the company claims "turned the motocross world on its axis. As the world's first full-face motocross helmet, it featured full venting, an integrated visor, a built-in goggle strap path and an ultra-radical shape. The ALS helmet revolutionized the MX industry and paved the way for today's highly protective full-face motocross helmets."

The ALS-02 features hand-laid fiberglass construction; an extra-wide, extra-tall eye port to accept large-frame goggles; a goggle-strap path; and a "revolutionary venting system comprised of 11 intake ports and six exhaust vents ‰ÛÓ two at the bottom-rear of the helmet ‰ÛÓ to provide "truly full-circumference breathability, especially at the lower back of the rider's head, where heat tends to build up." JT Racing describes the helmet's looks as "retro-radical."

JT Racing has not released pricing or an availability date for ordering. According to a countdown clock at www.thejtracing.com, the company's website will launch near the end of the year.
