Jo Shimoda will miss the remainder of the 2026 AMA Supercross season due to a fractured fibula, but is expected to return for the Pro Motocross opener.

Reigning 250 SuperMotocross Champion Jo Shimoda will miss the remainder of the 2026 AMA Supercross Championship following his crash at St. Louis, although the positive news is that surgery will not be required as he begins his recovery.

The Honda HRC Progressive rider went down during Saturday night’s round at The Dome at America’s Centre, with initial trackside evaluations suggesting no fracture. However, further imaging conducted on Tuesday in Clermont, Florida, confirmed a small, non-displaced fracture of Shimoda’s left fibula.

Despite the setback, the injury will be managed conservatively, with Shimoda set to wear an orthopaedic boot for the next two to three weeks as part of his recovery process. The Japanese rider is expected to be fit in time for the opening round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship on May 30 at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, where Honda HRC Progressive anticipates a full rider line-up.

Honda remains optimistic about Shimoda’s recovery and prospects heading into the outdoor season, with Manager of Racing & Experiential at American Honda, Brandon Wilson, expressing confidence in the young star’s resilience and championship potential.

“Jo is a resilient competitor, and we’re confident he’ll make a full recovery,” Wilson said. “We fully expect him to be a contender for the 250 AMA Pro Motocross crown, and to fight hard in defence of his SuperMotocross Championship. Our team will provide all the support he needs during his rehab to ensure he’s ready to compete at the highest level.”
