Jo Shimoda had one of his best night’s going at Round 6 at Angel Stadium but his night was cut short due to a crash on the final lap of his heat race as he was going for the lead.
Shimoda went to scrub some speed going into a corner but it ended in the bike flipping over and landing on him. He was shaken up enough to stay sidelined for the remainder of the night.
“Jo had made some real progress building on his Glendale podium last week,” a team spokesman said. “He qualified second, his best so far. It was disappointing to see him crash when he was doing so well. I know he was frustrated afterwards too. Fortunately, after having some scans done at the hospital there was no serious injury and at this point, we’re confident we’ll see a fast and determined Jo back in six weeks at Seattle.
Shimoda was fourth in the standings going into the round but has now dropped to fifth with Vince Friese moving ahead of him.
