An emphatic ten second win has elevated Jett Lawrence back to the top fo the 450SX standings.

Jett Lawrence soared back to the top of the podium with his sixth triumph of the 2024 AMA Supercross season at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, while RJ Hampshire seized victory in the 250SX East-West Showdown.

Lawrence swiftly assumed command of the main event midway through, maneuvering past Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen before riding unopposed to the checkered flag with a commanding ten-second lead.

Tomac secured second place, with his teammate and Lawrence’s primary championship rival, Cooper Webb, rounding out the podium. Lawrence’s win, coupled with Webb’s third-place finish, propelled him to the championship summit, holding a four-point advantage after entering the round level on points.

Amidst the intense competition, the 450 main event witnessed considerable drama as reigning 450SX Champion Chase Sexton suffered a heavy crash on lap five due to a cracked throttle body. Fortunately, Sexton escaped serious injury following evaluation and is determined to resume racing at the Philadelphia round next Saturday.

Meanwhile, Ken Roczen, initially a frontrunner in the main event, endured a significant crash attributed to a broken shock, resulting in a DNF and substantial bruising.

Jason Anderson secured fourth place ahead of Justin Barcia.

In the 250 class, RJ Hampshire clinched his third victory of the season, seizing the 250SX West points lead in the Nashville 250SX East/West Showdown, positioning himself as a formidable contender for the western regional title as the series nears its conclusion.

Levi Kitchen, the leader of the 250SX West Championship entering the round, encountered a disastrous night, enduring a hard crash with his already-injured teammate Cameron McAdoo, ultimately salvaging a disappointing fourteenth place and dropping to second in the standings.

Hampshire showcased peak performance, topping qualifying in his class and clinching victory in his Heat race. He continued his dominance in the Main Event, leading from start to finish, reclaiming the red plate with a two-point edge and only two rounds remaining in the 250SX West series.

Jo Shimoda maintained his recent stellar form, securing a comfortable second place in the race.

Tom Vialle reclaimed the 250SX East red plate with a third-place finish, assuming control of the points lead with two rounds left in the eastern region. The double MX2 World Champion showcased his prowess by topping 250SX East qualifying and securing a Heat race victory before delivering a consistent performance to clinch third place.

Expressing his jubilation at his win, Hampshire remarked, “First off, I’m so proud of this team. I had that feeling from the beginning – Practice went awesome with P1, then in the Heat race I came from the back to win that, followed by a holeshot in the Main Event to lead every lap for the win! That’s the first time that’s ever happened in my career and it came at a really good time to do it. Tonight I executed the start in that Main Event, and felt like that was what I really needed. I had the speed, so it was just giving myself a chance, and it was an awesome race from there. I had a couple of moments in the beginning, then settled in and it’s a big weight off my shoulders. I knew I could close the points lead tonight, but didn’t expect to get the red plate back – I’m so happy for my whole team and all of our supporters! This Nashville crowd is awesome, I love this state, and it’s pretty cool to come away with the win here tonight.”

The series now heads to Philadelphia for the next round next Saturday.
