GYTR Yamaha's Jed Beaton lead an all rookie MXD podium at the opening round of the 2014 Monster Energy MX Nationals championship on the weekend firing his Yamaha YZ250F to two moto victories along the way.

It was the Husqvarna duo of Craig Anderson Racings Egan Mastin and Husqvarna support rider Nathan Crawford who lead out the field in the opening MXD moto of the season, with Mastin leading the first half of the race before Crawford made the move into the lead, never looking back and cruising to comfortable win.

Mastin held on for second place while pre-season favourite and second year MXD racer, Jack Simpson crossed the line in third.

Wilson Todd who only turned 16 last weekend and then quickly elevated to the senior ranks to fill the injured Joel Dinsdale's ride at GYTR Yamaha finished an impressive fourth in his first ever senior race.

Beaton rounded out the top five.

Beaton took control of the day with his win in moto two, crossing the line ahead of Mastin, Simpson, Victorian and KTM supported Wayde Carter and Kawasaki's Blake Colleton who bounced back after a tough race one.

The third and final moto win sealed the overall win for Beaton.

Crawford who struggled to seventh in race two was back up front in the final race finishing in second ahead of the ever consistent Mastin.

Wilson Todd scored his second fourth place result for the day while Jayden Rykers made an appearance in the top five to round out the day.

The final two steps on the MXD podium were first year MXD riders Mastin, just two points behind Beaton, with Crawford in 3rd another three points further adrift.

Simpson finished the day in fourth on 85 points, 11 points down on Beaton while Carter rounded out the top five.

Rykers held down sixth place overall, one point ahead of Todd in seventh. Brock Mcleary, Jarrod Kelly and Daniel Price finished in 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.
