SGR Suzuki's James Booth Elliot and SD3 Husqvarna's Luke Arbon have won all before them at the third round of the 2014 Peter Stevens South Australian Motocross Championships held at Andy Caldecott Park in Keith over the weekend.

Senior riders were welcomed to a perfectly groomed and prepared track on Sunday, with overcast sky's and a light wind providing near perfect racing conditions on the track located in a rock quarry that 1000's of tons of sand ripped into the hard based natural terrain.

Booth Elliot headed into the third round of the Expert MX1 championship on the back of a dominating performance at round two held at Port Augusta and on the rough and tough Keith track went about repeating the performance at round three as he grabbed the lead early in the Expert Open's opening moto of the day and was never headed, cruising to a comfortable win ahead of Team Intensity Suzuki's Tyson Whillas, with Flinders Motorycles Kawasaki mounted Matt Clarke in third.

After a comfortable opening moto win, Booth-Elliot looked as though he was going to repeat the performace in the following two moto's however, YAIM Yamaha rider Izak Maule who stepped up to race both the Open and Lites classes for the day had other ideas, keeping Booth Elliot honest in the second moto to finish a close second.

Maule then repeated the performance in the third and final moto of the round, not only putting pressure on Booth-Elliot, but making his way into the lead late in the race, before Booth-Elliot lifted his intensity to make his way back by Maule to ensure his second clean sweep of the series.

"It was a great day at Keith, I won the opening moto comfortably and then took the win in race two." Booth Elliot explained. "In race three Maule snuck up on me and got by late in the race so I had to pick up the pace to take the win.

With another state round win under his belt the Privateer on the national circuit will head to Ryamond Tce this week and again take aim at a top ten result as a privateer in the Pro Open class.

"I am pretty sure ill be at Raymond Tce this weekend, the plan was alway to race all rounds of the Nationals this year and I have had some very good results, unfortunately I am very low on funds right now and I have to make a decision on finishing out the MX Nationals or saving and trying to race the Supercross championship."

"Hopefully I can pick up a little more support and get myself deep inside the top ten at the final rounds of the nationals to finish out the season."

Finishing the round second overall in the Expert Open class was Maule on the back of his 5-2-2 results, with Whillas rounding out the podium after finishing the day with 2-7-4 results.

Clarke finished the day in 4th, just ahead of Tyler Lange and Shane Metcalfe as 2nd through 6th ended the day seperated by just ten points.

After 3 rounds of the five round championship Booth-Elliot leads the class by 52 points from Whillas, with Lange a futher three points further back in third.

In the Expert Lites class national front runner Luke Arbon raced away to three big wins aboard his Husqvarna 250 two stroke, winning all three races from local favorite Daniel Banks who fired his KTM 250 two stroke into second position in all three races.

Arbon was on point from the moment the gate dropped on the opening moto, taking advantage of the rough, rutted out track, riding at full intensity during all three 15 mintue plus one lap races in a bid to ensure he stay's at the top of his game in a bid to challenge for this years MX Nationals MX2 championship.

After winning the opening two races by just under 20 seconds, Arbon continued to dominate the day's proceedings and show his race fitness racing away to a 40 second win in the final race.

"It Felt good to take the clean sweep at Keith on the weekend," Arbon stated. "I hadn't raced there before and was cool to race on a track that got rough and was challenging.

"It was great prep for Raymond Terrace this weekend," he added.

"Heading to Raymond terrace I am confident in my ability to be able to win and I'm going there for nothing less then winning. I need that feeling back." Arbon concluded.

While Banks took a clear second place finish in all three moto's finishing, the race for the final step on the podium was a close one with 2013 SA State champion Jett Anderson and Izak Maule battled it out aboard their 250F machinery along with YZ 250 two stroke pilot Josh Tillbrook in all three moto's.

At day's end it was Maule who backed up his second place finish in the Open class with a third place finish in the Lites class, which included getting to within six seconds of Banks in the final moto of the day, showing some great fitness after completing six 15 mintue moto's for the day and well over 1.5 hours of racing.

Anderson was left to settle for fourth place for the round, just two points behind Maule, with Tillbrook finishing 5th after finishing 5th in every moto.

In the championship standings Banks holds a commanding 33 point lead over Anderson, with Maule moving into third position, 47 points behind Banks. Arbon who missed round two of the championship sits a futher 10 points back from Maule in fourth position.

Other class winners from the round included Kim Ashkenzi in the A grade Vets class, while Craig Hage demolished the B grade Vets class curising to three comfortable race wins.

Amy Bartsch edged out Zoe Harkness and Steph Cutler in the Women's class wit the three riders swapping podium positions each and every race.

Beau Taylor swept the Intermediate Open class to claim the round win, with Hamish Barker doing likewise in the Clubman Open class. Lucas Brereton raced to a 2-1-2 result to take the win in the Intermediate Lites class and Hamish Lochert rounded out the day with the Clubman Lites round win.
