Jake Stapleton to be among feature riders to compete in Australian Four Day Enduro

Posted:

Jake Stapleton will be back on home soil next month to prepare for battle against the best in the country, and some foreign champions, at the 30th annual Hog?fs Breath Cafe Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE). Stapleton - who rose quicky through the Australian ranks before landing a ride for TM in Europe to contest the World Enduro Championships - will be mounted on a stock 2008 WR450F. The young enduro star will be arriving in Sydney on March 17 and will return to where he grew up, the Newcastle region, to prepare for the A4DE. He hasn't been back to Australia for more than a year, he now calls eastern Canada home. Stapleton said he had been welcomed by Yamaha Canada with open arms and has been getting in some pre-A4DE training by doing ice and snow races with studded tyres. "Winter makes it a little difficult to ride, so I hadn't been on my bike much since November, Stapleton said. "I've just started riding again... [the ice and snow races are] a lot of fun, but it will be nice to be in warm weather again soon. "It's so great to be on a Yamaha. I have a lot confidence in this bike and I'm really looking forward to racing it at the A4DE. "I really do feel as though a Yamaha brings out the best of my abilities. I think the competition at the A4DE will be tough, but there's nothing better than a good race." Yamaha Motor Australia (YMA) were thrilled to have Stapleton riding a Yamaha at the most prestigious enduro event on the Australian racing calendar, to be held at Warragul, Victoria. Motorsport co-ordinator Cheryl Muldoon said "it was great to field a call from Yamaha Canada with the news that team blue had secured the talents of Jake Stapleton". "Jake called YMA just prior to Christmas last year interested in returning to race the 2008 A4DE - naturally we were thrilled to have him return home to ride Yamaha," Muldoon said. "He had his first snow race in Canada recently on the WR450F, with studded tyres and the locals all commented on his natural talent - in adapting and becoming so quickly competitive racing in the snow." Race organisers, Dirt Bike Promotions. Phil Sargent and DeTour's Lyndon Heffernan, said they were extremely excited to have Stapleton as a confirmed competitor. "We can.t give away too much just yet, but I can tell you that we are going to have not only Jake and all the biggest names in Australian enduro, but some foreign, world-class imports as well," Sargent said. "We will be announcing details of the other riders as soon as they are confirmed, hopefully by the end of next week." Sargent said preparations for the iconic event were going smoothly. "We work hard to make sure the event gets bigger and better every year... we have made sure to pick a great spot with lots of awesome riding and we have again secured a football complex for Parc Ferme, but this time it is fully licensed, with food and drink," he said. "We are again having a rider Meet and Greet to give competitors, supporters and members of the public the opportunity to meet the feature riders... Shooting Star Media will also be rolling out a PR plan to target local, state and national media, which will include conducting daily media conferences." Heffernan said the trail sections will range from "red clay to shaley high country terrain" - "wet conditions would see the event be very tough tough," he said. "There will be six tests per day, a variety of grass track and forest tests and one that will be used on the way from Parc ferme each day. In most cases start and finish will be side by side to make it easy for crews and riders," he said. "The final Moto test will be a very European-style track on the side of a hill with nearly 90 percent of the track visible from the spectator area. "It will be held at Lardner Park expo area, which is just 5-minutes off the Princes Highway... it.s a fantastic spot, with a huge pavilion that.s just been built at the top of the hill." Supplementary regulations are already out and considering the field must again be capped at 350, it's imperative that you get your entry in quickly to avoid missing out.
