Australian rider Jake Cannon made an impressive start to his European motocross career, finishing sixth overall at the opening round of the French Elite MX2 Motocross Championship at Lacapelle Marival.
Racing for Team Venum Bud Racing Kawasaki, Cannon finished seventh in both motos, just days after flying into Europe from the United States, where he had been competing in Supercross.
The track at Lacapelle Marival, known for its challenging, technical layout with tight corners, ruts, and bumps, provided a tough test for Cannon as he adapted from the short-duration Supercross races to the longer, more demanding motocross motos. Despite the challenges, Cannon displayed great adaptability and determination.
“This was my first race in Europe, and the track was really gnarly and technical,” Cannon said. “It was definitely a big change coming from Supercross to motocross with longer motos and a challenging track, so you definitely had to be on your toes. But I felt like I made a good step today, and the result was a good starting point to keep building and improving. And the atmosphere here with all of the fans was crazy; I really enjoyed it.”
With a solid debut in the French Elite Championship, Cannon’s performance sets a promising foundation for the rest of the season as he continues to adapt to European motocross racing.
