Yamaha Motor Europe has confirmed that Swedish rider Isak Gifting will remain with the JK Yamaha Supported MX Team through the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship, continuing aboard the Yamaha YZ450F in the premier MXGP class.
The 24-year-old from Grycksbo, Sweden, has made steady progress since stepping up to MXGP in 2024, with standout moments including an impressive fifth overall at the MXGP of Czech Republic this year. Joining JK Yamaha marked a key turning point for Gifting, who has shown significant growth in both speed and confidence despite battling through a few injury setbacks. His determination and resilience have become defining traits across his first two seasons with Yamaha.
Looking ahead to 2026, Gifting said he’s eager to build on the experience and momentum gained so far, explaining that continuing with the same team and structure gives him the consistency needed to keep improving. “It’s nice for me to continue my progress with Yamaha, the same team, same people, same bike, and improve together,” he said. “It’s a nice environment for me and I think we can create something good together for next year. I have a few personal goals I want to achieve, but result-wise I’m looking to be top 10 overall in the MXGP Championship Standings and I’d like to have some more results in the top five, if not better than that if everything clicks. So, I’m really looking forward to seeing what next year will bring.”
Alexandre Kowalski, Yamaha Motor Europe’s Off-Road Racing Manager, praised Gifting’s attitude and progress since joining the team. “Isak joined the Yamaha Family in 2024, transitioning from MX2 to MXGP with the support of Riccardo and Guiliano Boschi and the JK Yamaha Supported MX team,” he said. “With their backing, Isak has made remarkable progress and achieved impressive results, which have not gone unnoticed. It makes sense to provide him with more support for the future. Isak has already proven he has the speed of the top riders in MXGP. His incredible fighting spirit and great attitude align perfectly with our values. We are pleased to keep him in blue and look forward to continuing to help him succeed.”
After a challenging but promising start to his MXGP career, Isak Gifting now heads into 2026 with renewed focus and clear goals
