Inaugural Australian Three-Day Vintage Enduro hailed a great success

As the fog and frost rose from the Wombat State Forest in Blackwood, Victoria (VIC) this weekend, a welcome sound of Vintage Enduro bikes reverberated through the air for the inaugural 2019 Australian Three-Day Vintage Enduro (A3VE).

The four competitive classes commenced on Thursday 23rd May with scrutineering and arrival in parc ferme, over one hundred competitors descended on Blackwood for what was set to be a highly dynamic, adrenaline pounding and beautifully reminiscent long weekend.

Providing the first ever multi-day competitive Vintage Enduro in Australia, the A3VE delivered four individual loops spanning 50-60 kilometres, with two separate laps on Day 1, three on Day 2, and a further two laps on Day 3 alongside a Final Moto.

As they navigated the picturesque landscape that is the Wombat State Forest across the three days, it was Duane Deegenaars for V1 pre-1976, Phil Green for V2 pre-1980, John Boag for V3 pre-1984, and Scott Noble for V4 pre-1988 who came out victorious!

As they screamed home during the Final Moto, it was Noble who also clocked in the fastest time for the first ever A3VE, with a time of 54:41.679, ahead of his fellow V4 compatriots, Geoff Ballard and Garry Brown, who finished the weekend with respective times of 55:08.701 and 58:07.733.

New South Wales was also the inaugural victor of the 2019 A3VE State Vintage Challenge and the Southern Lobstirers as the champions of the 2019 A3VE Vintage Club Team Challenge!
